Sinj is one of the most important Marian sanctuaries in Croatia.
The traditional celebration of the Assumption Of Mary is held in Sinj on the 15th Of August in remembrance of the victory over the Turks who took siege of the Sinj in 1573. Mass and confession take place from the early morning and are held every half hour. The solemn Mass begins from the sanctuary and the whole of Sinj up to the border line of the Cetina and surrounding areas take part.
