Greek colonists founded Epetion in the 3rd century before Christ, the precursor of today's Stobreč. Administratively, Stobreč belongs to Split of which is only 7 km away. Today's Stobreč is a tourist resort known for its camping and variety of recreational tourism - from water sports such as sailing, rowing, surfing or fishing to football, picigin, volleyball, shooting, tennis courts and golf training grounds - all this in one region. Besides the popular fishermen’s nights with sardines and a drop of red wine, Stobreč is host to Split Summer, a festival of theatre and excellent theatre classics.
The traditional gastronomic offer is also one of the most interesting things in Stobreč. Numerous old taverns, restaurants and coffee bars provide a guarantee of good entertainment and enjoyment in Dalmatian tastes and essences.
